I couldn't find info on when it was built. The station currently handles nearly 50 pairs of trains. Since Mysore does not have an airport, & the nearest airport is at Bangalore, trains are necessary here. Although they have 3 rail lines passing through, they're all single track ones which have impeded faster connectivity to the city. Dual tracks are planned for the future.
