Originally constructed in London England in 1831, but by 1962, the level of traffic was too much for the old bridge to bear. It was sold by the City of London to Robert McCulloch, chairman of McCullock Oil Corporation and founder of Lake Havasu for almost $2.5 million.

Fully disassembled, each piece was marked with a number for easy reassembly in the Arizona town. It took three years, but in late 1971, the bridge was officially reopened in the American community.
