<noembed><nolayer><div style="position:absolute; left:0; top:-100; display:none;"> St Mary&#39;s Church (sm)<br> Sightseeing in Madras picture - St Mary&#146;s Church, located in the fort complex, was completed in 1680 &#38; is one of the oldest surviving churches built by the British in India. It was also the first Anglican Church in Asia. Often referred to as the &#39;Westminster Abbey of the East&#39;, the bomb-proof carved structure was finished with polished lime. The church top was added in 1795, &#38; the sanctuary &#38; vestry were also later additions. The tombstones found within the fort are among the oldest tombstones of British origin in India. </div></nolayer></noembed>
