Expedition to the Altay mountains

There are the pictures made by friends and teachers of my daughter here. It was August 2003. The children investigated the nature in Katunskiy Biosphere Reserve (Katun river, lake Teletskoe).

It seems I have to explain
Children went about 15 days in mountains (2500 м) with big backpacks. They made photos when they had a little rest. It was not walk. They worked in mountains and sometimes they were tired very much, therefore they didn't smile. And the river was very cold..

Well, a lot of people are already aware that russians do not smile when they make fotos. Because it is not funny, it's just a camera. On the other hand you will be surprised to see when all these people start telling jokes. Then it is so funny... But then who will remember to take a picture?

Altay is worth to visit definitively. The photos are nice, but I miss more exact specification of the localities.
