The Burren and the Cliffs of Moher
The Burren is an area of limestone karst in west Ireland, County Clare. Karst is a new word for me: irregular limestone region with sinkholes, underground streams and caverns (Merriam Webster Dictionary) There are crevices, called grykes and the most amazing thing is the abundance of flowers that grow in these grykes. There are Alpine, Mediterranean, Arctic and native Irish flowers that grow side by side. We were in Ireland mid June, the weather was in the 50's F (12-15C) Does anyone know the names of the wild flowers?
