A little Arctic tern ignored us as it sat on its icy perch. Of all the species of migratory birds in the world, this one travels the greatest distance. It may fly as much as 25,000 miles on its round trip journey between islands north of the Arctic Circle and the shores of Antarctica. Imagine flying the circumference of the earth, every year! So let it rest for a while on that icy perch.
