a famous Penang landmark, is located along Weld Qauy. It was built by local millionaire Cheah Chen Eok between 1897 & 1902 to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee (60 years) of Queen Victoria’s reign. The tower is 60 feet tall, a foot for each year of the Queen's reign. Unfortunately, she never visited Penang & didn’t live long enough to see her clocktower completed. The clocktower leans slightly to one side because of all the bombs that destroyed the nearby Government Building during the WWII.
