the Arch of Honour
Homes & Mansions in Thousand Islands Region picture - In 1899 Boldt had this built of granite as a dramatic entrance where small launches could disembark their guests for parties, receptions, etc. (The large yachts could thus remain anchored offshore.) It is surmounted by a 1 ½ ton sculpture of three bronze stags (harts in Old English). It was to have had an enclosed colonnade and two marble fountains. One of the fountains was discovered sunk and abandoned for 44 years near the present day docks.
