Central Ecuador between Quito and Cuenca is little known but beautiful. Going along the Volcano route in the highlands, one passes Lago Quilotoa, Volcan Cotapaxi, Tunguruha and Chimborazo! Can descend to the jungle via the town of Baños or head towards Guyaquil passnig the town of Alausi and the incredible Nariz del Diablo railway which only runs now for tourists! This region is high, above 2500 metres and the heart of Indigenous Ecuador.
