欧洲之旅第五站 – 荷兰阿姆斯特丹 ( 21.04.08 )
我们是冲着要参观今年的荷兰库肯霍夫公园的常年花展而选择这个期间去欧游的。库肯霍夫公园每年只在花展期间开放约两个月，供游客参观。今年的花展日期是三月十九日至五月廿一日。今年的花展特色是：
1。100种4百50万株郁金香 2。世上最多人拍照的地方之一 3。这里有长达15公里的路径 4。荷兰最大的形态优美的公园 5。700万株花蕾全用手栽种
We purposely chosen this period to have our Europe tour in oeder to have a visit to the flower exhibiton at Keukenhof of Holland. Keukenhof is opened to public for merely 2 months during the flower exhibiton each year. The duration of this year's exhibiton is from 19.3.08 to 21.3.08. The characteristic of this year's flower exhibiton is:
1. 4.5 million tulips in 100 varieties 2. One of the most photographed places in the world 3. There are 15 kilometers of footpaths 4. The largest sculpture park in Holland 5. 7 million flower bulbs palnted by hand
库肯霍夫公园 ( Keukenhof Garden )
库肯霍夫公园位于盛产球根花田的中心城市利瑟(Liess)，也是每年花卉游行的必经之路。库肯霍夫公园的四周环绕着多采缤纷的花田，这块古老的公园十分壮观。由郁金香、水仙花、风信子，以及各类的球茎花构成一幅繁茂的色彩，恰似坐落在花毡中间的春天的花园，据说圆中各种花卉共达600万株以上，有很多稀有的品种。
每年的春天，这里都将举行为期八周左右的花展，同时还安排许多相关的活动，包括园艺与插花等的工作坊、各种主题的展览等等。去年这里最让人瞩目的活动是花帽的展览，展出花卉在帽子设计方面的运用。
郁金香的传说
荷兰流传的关于郁金香的故事挺浪漫：古代有位美丽少女住在雄伟的城堡里,有三位勇士同时爱上了她,一个送她一顶皇冠,一个送把宝剑,一个送金块。但她对谁都不钟情,只好向花神祷告。
花神深感爱情不能勉强,便把皇冠变鲜花,宝剑变绿叶,金块变球根,这样合起来便成一朵郁金香了。
在郁金香进入荷兰后近400年里,不仅深得荷兰人喜爱,被评为国花,而且使许多荷兰人致富,荷兰也因此成为“郁金香王国”。现在荷兰每年大约培育90亿个鲜花球茎,全世界每个人可以分到两朵。其中郁金香球茎有30亿个,如果把它们排列起来能够围绕赤道7圈。而荷兰本身只是一个41000平方公里的小国家,并且四分之一的土地在海平面以下。
关于荷兰郁金香的历史是从一位名叫克卢修斯的园艺学家开始的。16世纪,在维也纳皇家花园当园丁的克卢修斯,千方百计从出使土耳其的奥地利大使于中得到了原产亚洲的、美丽的郁金香,并带着郁金香来到了荷兰,使这种花很快地遍及荷兰各地,一度掀起了郁金香热。
起初,郁金香的价值成倍地增长,许多人疯狂地种植郁金香,甚至有人用一座带花园的别墅换取一个珍贵的品种。现在,每到春天,郁金香花开的季节,就会有世界各地的游客来到荷兰,涌入世界最大的球茎花园--荷兰的克肯霍夫公园。
Keukenhof also known as the Garden of Europe is situated near Lisse, Netherlands, and is the world's largest flower garden. According to the official website for the Keukenhof Park, there are approximately 7,000,000 (seven million) flower bulbs planted annually at the park.
Keukenhof is located in South Holland between the towns of Hillegom and Lisse, south of Haarlem and southwest of Amsterdam. It is accessible by bus from the stations of Haarlem or Leiden. It is located in an area called the "Dune and Bulb Region" (Duin- en Bollenstreek).
The flower garden was the idea in 1949 of the then-mayor of Lisse, a small town south of Amsterdam. The idea was to have a flower exhibit where growers from all over the Netherlands and Europe could show off their hybrids which will help the Netherlands as it is the world's largest exporter of flowers.
eukenhof has been the world's largest flower garden for over fifty years. Keukenhof is open annually from the last week of March to mid-May. The best time to view the tulips is around mid-April, depending on the weather. In 2008 the Keukenhof will be open from March 20 to May 18.
Keukenhof is the world's largest flower garden, spread over 32-hectares and attracting over 800,000 visitors each year. This number is very impressive since the gardens are only open for a few weeks each year.
