(presented as an early Daguerrotype – light-sensitive silver salts on a copper plate) The wooden box pews at the front had to be rented, but those at the rear were free. (I guess they went in for “status symbols” even way back then.) There was an 1862 reed organ, but no cross or candles. I guess those were considered too “papist”.
