Rallapadu reservoir project is a medium irrigation project constructed across Manneru River in the year 1958 near Rallapadu village in Lingasamudram Mandal of Prakasam District with a cost of Rs 90.34 Lakhs to serve a registered ayacut of 12600 Acres in Prakasam and Nellore Districts under both left and right canals. The project was formulated when the area was under erstwhile Madras state The Reservoir is located above Rallapadu village and just below the crossing of Kaligiri-VV palem Road between 16/2 and 16/4.

The area of the catchment at site of reservoir is 850 Sq miles of which the intercepted catchment is 302 Sq miles consisting of 250 Sq miles of Mopad and 52 Sq miles of Nakkalagandi reservoir.The catchment is under the influence of Udayagiri and Kanigiri Rainfall stations. The average rainfall in the tract is 26.27 inches (Average 33 inches). The foundation stone for the scheme was laid by the Hon’ble Minister Sri M.Bhaktavatsalam, Minister, PWD, Madras on 13.8.1951.The works of Rallapadu project was completed by 1958 when water was first utilized for Irrigation purposes. The Reservoir is formed by earthen bund of length 2950 Meters and the Spillway with 167.60 m length is provided with 10 no of Gates of Size 40' X 50' and two Scour vents .
