The Cathedral of the Archangel was built between 1505 and 1508, a time when Russia was gaining great power. Archangel Michael, a well armed angel was seen as appropriate for Russia's military power. This church also was the place where many of the tsars were laid to rest. (Photo by Georgia Hess)
