Orvieto is home to the remnants of a Eucharistic miracle in which the consecrated host began bleed in the hands of the priest. The blood fell onto the altar cloth. It is the blood-stained cloth that it venerated today. The priest who was celebrating the mass was a pious priest, however, he had a hard time believing that the consecrated bread and wine truly becomes the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
