This circular Baptistery, dedicated to St. John the Baptist, is the largest in Italy. Its circumference measures 107.25m, & if you include the statue of St. John the Baptist on top of the dome, it is a few centimeters higher than the Leaning Tower. Construction on this Romanesque building was begun in 1153 but wasn't completed until 1363 when the Gothic-styled loggia (open gallery), top storey, & the dome were added. I didn't have time to visit the interior of this structure either, but apparently, it is immense & surprisingly plain without much decoration. It has a sculpted pulpit, & an octagonal font with bronze sculpture of St. John the Baptist at the center. There's some good photos here: http://www.sacred-destinations.com/italy/pisa-baptistery.htm
