<noembed><nolayer><div style="position:absolute; left:0; top:-100; display:none;"> The &#34;Baptistery&#34; (1153-1363)<br> Sightseeing in Tuscany picture - This circular Baptistery, dedicated to St. John the Baptist, is the largest in Italy. Its circumference measures 107.25m, &#38; if you include the statue of St. John the Baptist on top of the dome, it is a few centimeters higher than the Leaning Tower. Construction on this Romanesque building was begun in 1153 but wasn&#39;t completed until 1363 when the Gothic-styled loggia (open gallery), top storey, &#38; the dome were added. I didn&#39;t have time to visit the interior of this structure either, but apparently, it is immense &#38; surprisingly plain without much decoration. It has a sculpted pulpit, &#38; an octagonal font with bronze sculpture of St. John the Baptist at the center. There&#39;s some good photos here: http://www.sacred-destinations.com/italy/pisa-baptistery.htm </div></nolayer></noembed>
