"Palazzo Vecchio" (old palace),
Sightseeing in Florence picture - aka Palazzo della Signoria, takes up one corner of Piazza della Signoria. Built between 1299-1302, it is Florence's most famous & "imposing" palazzo. The most remarkable architectural feature is the 308 foot crenelated tower. Today it is occupied by city employees. (Remember my earlier comment about the palaces in Florence looking like fortresses?)
