or just a bridge? Although the buried city is now some distance inland, in ancient times it was nearer the coast & served as a port. In fact, another important discovery at the mouth of the Sarno River in 2002 revealed that the port had also been populated, & that they lived there in a system of channels that suggested a likeness to Venice.
