I've been around the world quite a bit. I now am convinced the Azores may well be the most beautiful group of islands on the planet! As for Pico, I feel so priviledged that I had the good luck of being born there. I only hope these parasidiac islands are not spoiled by the hordes of tourists - especially those from the mainland who have very poor habits with respect to keeping the environment clean, and who, unfortunately, are the majority of those who visit the islands.

My grandparents are from Calheta de Nesquim, Pico and just this year I went to a wedding there. The azores is beautiful and I highly recommend anyone to go visit any of the islands. I love looking at these beautiful pictures you have, it reminds me of when I go there.

I'm Coming Home!
Coming from a Portuguese backround, my mother decided to take my brother and I to visit a piece of our heritage. Reluctantly, I went to see my grandparents of Pico Island during July of 2001, to discover it was the most beautiful place I'd ever seen. I also visited Sao Miguel, and Faial, and could not help but fall in love with them. I am excited to report that I am returning this summer! It's all I can think about! For those of you who've never had the opportunity, I strongly reccommend you visit! It's beauty is undescribable

I lived on Terceira as a military brat from 1982-1984 and fell in love with the Azores. Almost 20 years later I returned (June 2003) and visited Sao Miguel, Terciera, Faial, and Pico. I'm very seriously considering buying a home on either Faial or Pico and retiring there in another twenty years... and I'm a American with no Portuguese heritage. I love the solitude, the friendliness and honesty of the people, and the sheer beauty of God's hand.

missing home
EXCELENT !

No words for the joy that i felt when i found this site. I couldn't stop crying by looking at the excelent photos from Pico. The photographer captured the spirit & peace from the islands. I did realised that I miss the ocean, fresh breeze, fresh sweet fruit, the food (linguica) and specially the friendly people from Pico.

Looking at those pictures made me realize that even living far away, i will always have a very SPECIAL place in my heart.

I would like to say : Thank you for this wonderfull experience & great site to look at. Keep up with the work.
