This album shows the scenery at Anbangbang, in the southern section of the Nourlangie Region, Kakadu National Park, 300 km east of Darwin, off the Kakadu Highway.

This was part of a full day tour from Darwin, which started at 6.15 am, and returned at 9pm, on November 12, 2008.

Anbangbang features a 1.5 km circular walk, which passes an ancient Aboriginal shelter and several outstanding art sites. There is a steep climb to the Gunwarddehwardde Lookout, which has impressive views of Kakadu's escarpment and Nourlangie.

The panoramas from the Lookout are superb - the Rock Art is very colorful, estimated to have been painted over 2000 years ago.

Yes, it was VERY hot, the shade temperature during our trip was 40 degrees! The water in our plastic bottles became too hot to drink, and we refilled with chilled water from the containers in our coach!
