<noembed><nolayer><div style="position:absolute; left:0; top:-100; display:none;"> The ancient city of Selinus<br> Sightseeing in Sicily picture - (the Acropolis) &#38; Temple C, which towers over the other ruins, are barely visible center left. The walls surrounding the acropolis, which was built on high ground facing the sea, were reconstructed in 1927, after Temple C was partially rebuilt in 1925. Built in the 6th century BC, &#38; probably dedicated to Hercules or Apollo, Temple C is the earliest surviving temple of ancient Selinus. The scattered ruins of Temple A are also here. Across the sea, not that far away, are the shores of north Africa (Tunisia) where the Carthaginian fleet came from to destroy the city in 409 BCE. </div></nolayer></noembed>
