I visited this Park on November 14, 2008, on a coach tour from Darwin.
The Park covers approximately 1500 sq km, and each year attracts over 260,000 visitors.
Proclaimed a national park in 1986, it is named after Fred Litchfield, a Territory pioneer, who explored areas of the Northern Territory from Escape Cliffs on the Timor Sea to the Daly River in 1864
We visited the magnetic termite mounds (near the town of Batchelor), the Florence Falls, the Tolmer Falls, the Wangi Falls, and the Buley Rock Hole Cascades.
Three of us did the 2 km circuit walk, the Shady Creek Track, which was a steep climb from the base of the Wangi Falls to the top. The shade temperature was 40 degrees!
Then, we visited the Buley Rock Hole Cascades, where some of us went for a cooling swim - others of our group enjoyed a paddle.
This is a marvellous destination, and should not be missed on a Top End tour!
