from Piazza Armerina to Taormina. The many eruptions of Mt Etna have left an abundance of fertile volcanic soil in the eastern part of Sicily. The crops you see are likely olive & citrus orchards, vineyards, & nut tree groves. You will also see small herds of sheep, cattle & goats grazing on the hillsides.
