<noembed><nolayer><div style="position:absolute; left:0; top:-100; display:none;"> CHURCHES - San Pancrazio Church<br> Sightseeing in Sicily picture - This Baroque 16th century church is located outside the city walls, just beyond Messina Gate. The church was built over the ruins of a Greek temple that was dedicated to Zeus. One of the walls of the temple is incorporated into the southern wall of the church. The church is dedicated to San Pancrazio, a Bishop &#38; martyr, &#38; the patron saint of Taormina. Apparently, the interior (which I didn&#146;t see) is filled with multi-colored marble &#38; Taormina stone (which is marble-like), &#38; contains an important fresco depicting the martyrdom of San Pancrazio. The church is often closed to the public. I have not been able to identify those ruins across the street from the church. Maybe they belonged to the Greek temple? </div></nolayer></noembed>
