Raja Man Singh I begun works of the palace inside Jaigarh fort in 1590, and Amber was at that time the city capital of the Eastern Rajasthan. The deffensive structure of Jaigarh fort, which is seen in the top of the picture, is much older, it dates from the Meenas' period.
