This top portion of the bell tower of the Cathedral of Kalyazin was rebuilt on this little islet in the Uglich Reservoir. Stalin had the dam and reservoir built here without consulting with anyone. When the waters started to rise, the local inhabitants were left on their own to rebuild their homes and move somewhere along the shores of this new lake.
