The island of Cozumel in Mexico is a beautiful place to visit. My wife and I were lucky enough to be there this year during the week before the beginning of Lent. As in New Orleans, the Mexicans go all out to celebrate with their version of Mardi Gras which is called Carnival. Parades and VERY loud music, along with dancing until dawn, go on almost every night the week before Ash Wednesday. Here are a few scenes from the Carnival Parade 2001 as well as some shots from around the island.
