Getting here requires you to travel to Kashmir. This region is disputed between China, India and Pakistan. The main road to Ladakh from the rest of India is the Project Himank road which is claimed to be the "highest motorable road" in the world and passes over several mountain passes at over 5000 meters elevation. The highest pass is 18,400 feet elevation and altitutde sickness is a potential problem.
