Church of the Transfiguration . . .
Sightseeing in Russia picture - . . . of our Saviour. This church was built on the orders of tsar, Peter the Great in 1714. It has 22 onion-shaped domes of different sizes. Visible far off across the water, it was a sign of the monastery and its associated villages. The octagonal structure of the inside, makes it possible for it to accommodate a large number of people. The building is completely built of wood without the use of any nails at all. Only dowels were used during its construction.
