The Hermitage Theatre
Art Galleries in Saint Petersburg picture - This was the place where the tsars attended to watch plays, operas and ballets. It is a small, cosy space ideal for the tsar and his court. Under the Communists it was converted into a conference and lecture hall. In the 1980s though the decision was taken to modernize the place. Simultaneous translation for up to five languages, reverse projection, and computerized light controls were installed and once more the theatre could be used, nott only for lectures, seminars and conferences, but also as what had been its original purpose, a true, and modern theatre.
