British Columbia XX-Vancouver

Vancouver is one of my favorite cities, and I've been there several times over the years. I particulary enjoy the overall scenery, Stanley Park, and the Museum of Anthropology on the University of British Columbia campus. Gastown and Robson street are also interesting, if a bit touristy, and the city has a lively downtown area.

I was just up in Vancouver again and got a couple digital pics of the statue. It commemorates Canadia Pacific Railway workers who served in WWI and WWII. The building I believe is the old Canadian Pacific Railway Station.

My mom recently visited Vancouver and loved the fallen soldier and angel statue, but she didn't get a pic of it alas. The statue really moved her and has haunted her thoughts (in a good way!). So I went looking for a pic of it on the net for her, and yours is the only one I can find. Do you have any more pictures of this statue or know what the official name of it is? Or the name of the business or organization housed in the building behind it? If I knew that, I might be able to find more information about the statue and perhaps buy a poster of it for my mom. Thanks!

Hey Mark! Wonderful photography! I lived in Van. for one year in 1960. It was almost country then, compared to what it is in 2004.I loved Stanley Park and the mountains; make you feel close to heaven. I hope you get lots more trips to Van. Jennie Hoffleith
