We just returned from Playa Dorada. While we were there we had a tour of Grand Paradise arranged. Following the tour we were given free rein of the property and had a chance to wander around on our own and talk to the guests. We also dined with the manager (Osiris Cid) and we found him very personable and forthcoming in answering our questions. Lets just say that we were very impressed with what we saw. Essentially the place is virtually complete and is NOT a construction zone. There are a few things left to be done, none of which should impact anyone's vacation.

1) They have interchanged the position of the casino and the disco. The disco is up and running, but the casino isn't. If the casino is an issue, they currently have a shuttle to one of the other casinos in the complex.

2) The spa isn't opened yet. Target is about 45 days.

3) There are a few blocks of buildings yet to be completed. Most of the work is quiet stuff (installing new railings, patio doors, paint, plumbing and electrical). This should be completed by the middle of February. These rooms are pretty well isolated and the work shouldn't cause any issues to the guests.

4) They are waiting for the new hairdryers to arrive.

We were even given the use of a room during our visit. We found it bright and cheery. The new railings and decor are vastly improved over what was there previously. IMHO, I don't see any reason not to visit this resort.

Photos were taken Jan 16, 2009. The photos are essentially straight from the camera. The photos have been resized and I added my (c) and logo. Recognizeable faces have been pixelated out. There's not many people in the photos as it was rainy that day. That also explains the low contrast.
