Since being dragged by TALARIA through or across the water was just a little bit more difficult, but also more exciting, I kept Andrea relatively high. As TATARIA heeled over in a stronger gust two things would happen. 1. With the mast head farther outboard, the person in fact moved farther and farther away from TALARIA, possibly being 15 to 20 feet away from the hull. (2) With the masthead now closer to the water, and the halyard by which he or she was suspended, in effect being relatively longer, the rider of the Swing also tended also to move farther aft. Psychologically you were a long, long way from the safety of the mother ship.
