Once, when John, a friend of mine came sailing with us, he decided he would like to explore the Benjamin Islands with NO CATCH-UP. What we did not realize as John was getting the boat ready to sail, was that Moppy, clever sailor that he was, kept a close watch on him. Finally, everything ready to go, John got into the tender and pushed himself off. It wasn't until NO CATCH-UP was perhaps 2 or 3 feet off shore, that Moppy made his move. He got up, took a long leap and landed on the tender's foredeck. He had timed it perfectly. Coming back to shore would have been too inconvenient and so Moppy went along for the sail. As usually, he assumed his admiral's stance on the foredeck, and for all I know, told John where to sail to next.
