Our drive would take us all the way around Haleakala National Park that dominates the larger part of Maui. We started near the Kahului airport and drove clockwise , usually within sight of the ocean. Going all the way around was new to us. Last time we weren't allowed to drive much farther than Hana, on the east coast. The road was virtually impassible, but has since been opened. But the going is very, very rough for more than fifteen miles. Easy does it!
