During the summer, when this picture was taken, The 'Devil's Door" is a fairly unimpressive affair. Though even then, and in this picture the sudden drop in water level can be seen just behind the big rock on the left side of the channel. Small powerboats with enough power can be seen during the summer climbing from the water level in the foreground to the water level beyond the "D's D." During the spring, when the run-off has raised the river's level, This "Door" must indeed be a fearful place, which, no doubt, had earned it its name.
