During the summer, when this picture was taken, The "Devil's Door" is a relatively unimpressive affair. Though even then, and in this picture the sudden drop in water level as it flows through, is clearly visible. Small powerboats with enough power can occasionally be seen during the summer season, climbing across this sudden change in level. During the spring, when the run-off has raised the river's level, This "Door" must indeed be a fearful place. Hence, I suppose, it's name. The lumber workers, who, many years ago, were presumably in charge of directing the logs through the door would have been working here at times when the water level was considerably higher and therefore making the place a "Devil's Door indeed.
