Saint Simons lies just offshore from Brunswick, Georgia, about mid-way between historic Savannah and Jacksonville, Florida. Its neighbours are Sea Island (the ultra-exclusive site of a G8 summit conference), Little Saint Simons (largely an unspoiled nature preserve), and Jekyll, formerly the private winter “cottage country” of America’s wealthiest families in pre-tax days. Incidentally, Saint Simons is the only one of the islands that was never privately owned.
