Its fine white sand stretches for several miles, with East Point being its northeastern extremity. Saint Simons has high tides from 6 to 8 feet (2 – 2.6 m) twice daily, which cover about 2/3 of its width. Sea turtles (protected by law) sometimes come ashore onto the beach to lay their eggs.
