After a long & very cold year in Alaska, he transferred to the Army Air Corps, went to school in Texas to become a navigator, was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant and went to England. There he was the navigator on a 10-man B-17, the famous Flying Fortress, and flew many successful bombing missions over France and later over Germany.
