the "Wesley oak" plaque
Churches, Temples & Mosques in Georgia picture - Beside the roadway in front of the church grounds, it commemorates what is believed to be the spot where Charles Wesley first preached in 1736. Wood from what is believed to have been the actual tree was used to make the cross that hangs on the wall beside the pulpit in the sanctuary. Fortunately neither the Civil War nor the passing of time has destroyed it.
