A Pali School was established at Wat Ong Tu in 1929 & it still functions today as the prestigious Lao Buddhist Institute. Monks come here from around the country to study the teachings of Buddha in Pali, the sacred language of the Theravāda Buddhist canon, a Middle Indo-Aryan language of north Indian origin.
