The ruins of Wat Si Phum Sightseeing in Northern Laos picture - The ruins of this wat, with its enormous sitting Buddha, are all that remain of this former royal capital, which was renowned for the beauty of its many temples & stupas. They have all been destroyed by years of pillaging by raiders from invading countries, followed by the intense bombing of the Vietnam War. Sadly, there is no longer any evidence of the architectural style that made the kingdom so famous.
