The cave entrance
Sightseeing in Northern Laos picture - The 300m high vertical limestone cliff overhangs the mouth of the Nam Ou tributary of the Mekong River, & faces Pak Ou village where we had lunch. People have been climbing to the Pak Ou caves for a couple thousand years as it was a sacred site for local animists for centuries. They worshiped the river spirit here until Buddhism spread into Laos along the southern route from India.
