The Penang National Park is estimated to be thousands of years old with no specific known age. The pristine forest within the National Park contain a virgin jungle reserve. It was gazetted as the Pantai Acheh Forest Reserve in 1982 and managed by the Penang Forestry Department before it was re-gazzeted as the National Park on 10th April 2003 and place under the purview of Department of Wildlife and National Parks.
