An Aurora anti-submarine patrol and surveillance aircraft (CP 140) overflies the Square. With a range of more than 9,000 km (5,000 miles), it can patrol for 17 hours. It is also used to locate downed aircraft and ships in distress off our coasts, which can then be reached by search and rescue helicopters or ships.
