This 3rd & last Vang Vieng photo journal features our visit to one of the caves - Tham Chang, & our visit to the nearby organic farm. Because there are many unexplored caves, cave exploring is the main activity in Vang Viang. There are dozens of caves in the limestone hills around Vang Vieng, some easily accessible, others only after some tough climbing or hiking. You can join a tour or go by yourself, although most caves require a guide and a flashlight. But be forewarned - since Vang Vieng's citizens know about the tourists' obsession with caves, cave exploring here has become one of the major tourist rip-offs.
Vang Viengs Organic Farm, located in a village about 3 km north of Vang Vieng, promotes the use of natural materials & traditional methods to produce silk, wine, & mulberry tea. Profits from the farm are used to support & educate the local villagers through projects that include a community center, English school, & a school bus. More info here: http://www.laofarm.org/
