The unique birds of Hawaii certainly add to the beauty of our island state. These creatures have fascinated me since my Boy Scout days when I struggled to earn my Bird Stud merit badge. Most of us going for Eagle Scout rank were absolutely intimidated by the prospect of tackling what we'd heard was the toughest merit badge of all. So I put off Bird Study until I'd earned most of the other required badges... only to find that this turned out to be far and away my favorite subject.
