ELEPHANT TERRACE
Sightseeing in Siem Reap/Angkor picture - The Elephant Terrace probably served as the foundation for the King's main apartments which have not survived because they were made of wood. The terrace is adorned with its namesake reliefs of elephants on one side & garudas (bird-men) on the other. The terrace was built by Jayavarman VII in the 12th century. The king & his courtiers viewed processions & military parades from this terrace. Note the naga (serpent) railing.
