It's called the Dana Point Grand Prix of Cycling, but this annual event is a lot more than just a bunch of bicycle races. It's a great big neighborhood party with live music, lots of booths to visit and block parties to attend. It runs for almost 11 hours, from 7am until the 4pm professional men's race is completed.

Twelve thousand fans came out to cheer some 800 racers, ranging from 4 year-olds on tricycles to professional men and women bikers including French Grand Prix winner Floyd Landis. (No, he didn't win this time.)

It all goes to two good causes: the 5th Marine Regiment Support Group and the Capistrano Boys and Girls Clubs. And it gets bigger and better every year.

Here are some of the this year's Grand Prix sights (April 26, 2009).

By the way, this was the second time this weekend that Dana Point was taken over. The day before the bicycle races, it was the dogs' turn (http://worldisround.com/articles/353276/?e).
