The difference between devatas &#38; apsaras is that devatas are standing still, facing forward, in the manner of temple guardians or custodians, whereas apsaras, who are celestial dancers from Khmer mythology, are dancing or poised to dance. They are also known as celestial nymphs or celestial maidens. (Scholars have counted more than 1,860 apsaras at Angkor Wat. If there were any at Ta Prohm, I missed them.) </div></nolayer></noembed>
